New-Age Tech Stocks Rally as Market Capitalization Climbs to $161 Billion

Indian new-age tech stocks posted broad gains this week, driven by strong quarterly earnings reports. Of the 69 firms tracked, 40 companies saw stock price increases ranging from 0.2% to 26.8%, while the combined market capitalization for the sector rose 5.7% to $160.94 billion.

Market Performance

The week was defined by divergent performance among tech counters. Ather Energy led the market after reporting its maiden quarterly net profit, with shares rising 26.8% to close at ₹1,755.05. Other notable gainers included Zetwerk, which rose 18%, and Tonbo Imaging, which increased by 15.3%. Conversely, 15 companies, including Swiggy, FirstCry, and MapmyIndia, recorded new 52-week lows.

Corporate Developments

Several companies announced operational and structural changes throughout the week. E2E Networks expanded its AI infrastructure capacity by 5.4 MW, a 58.7% increase, utilizing NVIDIA HGX B300 systems. Zelio E-Mobility commenced commercial operations at a new Haryana plant, adding 72,000 vehicles to its annual production capacity. Additionally, Nazara Technologies transferred $77 million to its UK subsidiary to fund the acquisition of Spanish gaming firms Bluetile Games and Bestplay Systems. In leadership news, Sajiv Nair, the CTO and CIO of ESDS, announced his resignation for personal reasons, effective by January 27, 2027.

Investment and Market Context

Broader market indices reflected the positive sentiment in the tech sector. The Sensex rose 1.8% to 74,459.53, while the Nifty 50 climbed 2% to 23,053.10. Analysts cited softer crude oil prices and easing bond yields as primary drivers for the increased investor risk appetite that fueled the recovery.

Sector Outlook

The tech sector demonstrated resilience this week, effectively recovering from previous losses as benchmark indices stabilized. While individual stock performance varied significantly based on earnings and operational news, the overall market cap expansion suggests sustained investor confidence in the growth trajectories of these emerging technology companies.
