Nissan Invests £3 Million in Cambridge Test of ADventure Autonomous Mobility

Nissan has allocated a £3 million investment to launch a trial of its ADventure autonomous‑mobility platform at the University of Cambridge.

Phase 1: Project launch

The Japanese automaker announced the partnership in early 2026, earmarking funds to set up testing facilities on the university campus.

Phase 2: Safety assessment

Researchers will evaluate the system’s safety protocols, including sensor reliability and emergency response mechanisms, over a six‑month period.

Phase 3: Accessibility study

The trial will also examine how the technology serves users with reduced mobility, aiming to identify barriers and propose design improvements.

Phase 4: Data collection and analysis

Data gathered from vehicle operations and user feedback will be compiled for analysis by Nissan’s engineering team and Cambridge scholars.

Current status

Preparations are underway, with equipment procurement and staff recruitment in progress. The first test runs are expected later in 2026, after which findings will inform broader deployment strategies.
