Recognition of a Sporting Icon

The Treccani “Miti Italiani” collection aims to preserve the narratives of individuals who have shaped the nation’s cultural identity. Upcoming Launch in Sardinia
The presentation scheduled for November 7 in Cagliari will serve as the official launch for the work. This location is significant, as Riva is inextricably linked to the city’s football history, having led Cagliari to its only Serie A title in 1970. The event is expected to draw figures from the sporting and literary communities to discuss the athlete’s influence on Italian society.
Why it matters: This volume cements Riva’s status as a foundational figure in Italian cultural history. For sports enthusiasts and historians, it provides an official record of how athletic achievement can intersect with national identity and regional pride.
