Milan’s Palazzo Reale has opened an exhibition tracing the Brueghel family and its impact on European painting genres.
Opening
The show debuted earlier this month, presenting works by Pieter Bruegel the Elder, his sons Pieter Brueghel the Younger and Jan Brueghel the Elder, and later descendants. Curators link the family’s output to the development of landscape, genre and still‑life painting across the continent.
31 January 2024
The exhibition will remain on view until 31 January 2024. Organisers describe it as a survey of the “origins of painting genres in Europe,” highlighting how the Brueghels blended rural scenes with emerging artistic conventions.
Current Status
Visitors can explore the collection at Palazzo Reale until the end of January. The museum advises booking in advance due to limited capacity.
