Mukesh Ambani added $6.3 billion to his personal fortune in a single day, marking the largest increase among the world’s billionaires. According to the Forbes Real-Time Billionaires list on November 2, the Reliance Industries chairman’s net worth rose by 7.85% following a sharp rally in his company’s stock price.
Market Performance and Earnings
Shares of Reliance Industries jumped 11.6% on Monday, the company’s strongest single-day performance in over six years. The stock closed at the day’s high, leading the benchmark Nifty 50 index. This surge followed the release of September-quarter results, which showed a 40.6% year-on-year increase in consolidated net profit to Rs 25,548 crore, exceeding analyst expectations.
The earnings growth was driven by improved margins in the company’s refining and petrochemical sectors, which saw core earnings rise by 68%. Additionally, the telecom arm, Jio Platforms, reported a 16.6% increase in core earnings. While the retail business faced continued pressure, the overall financial results strengthened investor confidence in Reliance’s primary revenue streams.
Rankings and Future Outlook
These gains placed Ambani at No. 23 on the global billionaire list, with a total net worth of $88.8 billion. He currently ranks ahead of Gautam Adani, who occupies the No. 26 spot with $79.12 billion. Ambani’s single-day wealth increase significantly outpaced other billionaires, such as Spain’s Amancio Ortega and China’s Zhong Shanshan, who added $1.7 billion and $1.5 billion respectively.
Looking ahead, the company continues to expand its technological footprint. In 2026, Ambani announced a $110 billion investment plan for artificial intelligence infrastructure, slated for development across India over the next seven years. Leadership at the conglomerate is also transitioning to the next generation, with Ambani’s three children—Akash, Isha, and Anant—joining the board in 2023 to oversee specific divisions.
