Fintech company MobiKwik reported a net profit of Rs 11.83 crore for the second quarter of the 2027 fiscal year, marking a turnaround from a loss of Rs 28.61 crore during the same period last year. This result represents the company’s fourth consecutive profitable quarter and its highest quarterly profit to date.
Financial Performance and Growth
Revenue for the period increased 9.4% year-on-year to Rs 295.70 crore. Company officials attributed the growth to improved margins and higher gross merchandise value (GMV). The payment division recorded a 35% increase in GMV, reaching Rs 59,677 crore for the July-September quarter.
MobiKwik also reported an expansion in its user base, which grew to 196.3 million registered users in the second quarter of FY27, up from 183.5 million during the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal year.
Context of Recent Financial Reporting
The report follows other recent financial disclosures within the Indian market. OYO parent entity PRISM reported a consolidated profit after tax of Rs 353 crore for the first quarter ending in June, a 17% increase from the previous year. That figure included a deferred-tax credit of Rs 244 crore. Additionally, the India-focused private equity firm ValueQuest Tristar Fund has secured Rs 2,100 crore in investor commitments. The fund focuses on advanced manufacturing sectors, including aerospace and defense, and has deployed capital into four companies to date.
Why it matters: The return to profitability for fintech firms like MobiKwik serves as a key indicator of the health of India’s digital payment sector. Sustained growth in user acquisition and gross merchandise value suggests continued consumer adoption of digital financial tools, which remains a vital component of the broader economic expansion in emerging markets.
