Egyptian Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk met his Qatari counterpart Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari in Doha, aiming to deepen economic ties and attract new capital into Egypt’s growth sectors.
Meeting on the sidelines of AIIB sessions
During the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank gathering, Kouchouk highlighted the need for more Qatari money in Egypt’s energy and tourism projects. He said joint ventures would boost private‑sector activity, create jobs and spur sustainable growth for both nations.
Cooperation on fiscal expertise
The two ministers agreed to share knowledge on fiscal and tax policy, strengthening each ministry’s capacity to design effective incentives for investors.
Financing for impact
Speaking at an AIIB panel, Kouchouk explained that turning reforms into real investments requires innovative financing. He cited the successful issuance of “Panda bonds” and called for greater involvement of multilateral development banks to provide guarantees that lure private capital.
Focus on renewable energy and infrastructure
Public‑private partnerships were described as the natural evolution of infrastructure funding, with a particular emphasis on sustainable and renewable energy. Kouchouk said expanding roads, ports, logistics and customs reforms will help Egypt become a regional trade hub and improve export competitiveness.
