Early-stage investor Blue Ashva Capital has sold its entire stake in direct-to-consumer food company iD Fresh Food, completing a secondary transaction valued at ₹50 crore. The exit marks a shift for the investment firm as it reallocates capital toward deep-tech ventures.
Upsurge India, Triumph Global Fund, and White Whale Ventures co-led the acquisition of the approximately 1% equity stake. Upsurge India officials stated they originated the deal and negotiated the commercial terms, securing the shareholding block despite interest from other institutional buyers.
Strategic Shift and Portfolio Growth
Satya Bansal, founder and CEO of Blue Ashva Capital, said the original investment thesis focused on iD Fresh Food’s preservative-free product line and its refrigerated distribution network. The startup initially gained market share through its fresh idli and dosa batters before expanding into Indian breads, chutneys, and dairy products.
The company maintains a significant presence in India and the Gulf region, claiming a market share of 60-65% in its product category. Financial data provided in the transaction details indicates the company’s revenue grew to over ₹870 crore in FY26, up from approximately ₹681 crore in FY25, representing an annual growth rate of more than 25%.
Future Outlook and Market Position
The secondary transaction follows a major change in the company’s ownership structure earlier this year. In January 2026, private equity firm Apax acquired a minority stake in a deal valued at approximately ₹1,500 crore, which provided partial exits for investors Premji Invest and TPG NewQuest.
Looking ahead, iD Fresh Food is positioning itself for a public offering. The company has set a target to reach operating revenue between ₹1,100 crore and ₹1,200 crore by FY27. Management is preparing for an initial public offering in the coming fiscal year, which is expected to include a pre-IPO secondary sale worth roughly ₹1,200 crore.
