Egypt has secured the position of Premier Partner at the World Travel Market (WTM) London 2026, marking the first time the country has held the designation since it began attending the exhibition in 1980. The event, held at ExCeL London from November 3 to 5, serves as a primary platform for the nation to influence global tourism strategies.
Strategic Shift in Tourism Promotion
The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities is leading the Egyptian delegation, which includes more than 110 exhibitors representing hotels and tourism companies. The Egyptian pavilion has expanded significantly compared to previous years, reflecting a broader effort to move beyond simple product promotion. Officials state the new status allows Egypt to contribute to shaping the global tourism agenda rather than solely presenting tourism products to tour operators.
Industry Transformation and Resilience
This year’s conference operates under the theme “Resilience, Rebound & Reinvention: The Next Era of Global Travel.” The program centers on six pillars: access, innovation, growth, trust, destination, and resilience. These topics address how nations can navigate geopolitical, climate, and economic challenges while adopting new technology to remain competitive in the global marketplace.
Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathy is leading the delegation, with executive arrangements managed by Dr. Ahmed Youssef, CEO of the Egyptian Tourism Promotion Authority. The focus remains on developing business models to secure Egypt’s position in a rapidly changing industry.
