Indian omnichannel retailer Nykaa, operated by FSN E-Commerce Ventures, reported a profit after tax of Rs 101 crore for the second quarter of fiscal year 2027. This figure represents a 206% increase compared to the Rs 33 crore profit recorded during the same period in the previous year.
Financial Performance in Q2 FY2027
The company announced revenue from operations reached Rs 3,006 crore, marking a 28% year-over-year increase. The beauty vertical remained the primary revenue driver, contributing a gross merchandise value (GMV) of Rs 4,454 crore. The fashion segment also reported growth, with revenue rising 42.9% year-over-year to Rs 287.2 crore. Additionally, the company’s B2B arm, Superstore by Nykaa, saw its registered retailer base expand by 27% to over 550,000.
Strategic Acquisitions and Service Expansion
Nykaa confirmed the acquisition of an 82% majority stake in Simply Nam, a cosmetics brand established in 2020 by makeup artist Namrata Soni and Bozzil. The company stated this purchase is intended to expand its premium makeup portfolio. Furthermore, the firm highlighted the expansion of its quick-commerce service, NYKAA Now. Launched in 2025, the service currently operates in 15 cities, with plans to reach 25 cities by the end of the fiscal year. The company reports the service offers over 1,000 brands, resulting in average order values three times higher than typical quick-commerce transactions.
Current Market Position
Falguni Nayar, executive chairperson and CEO, attributed the results to operational efficiency in marketing and overheads. The company has grown its physical footprint to 338 stores across 111 cities. House of Nykaa, the company’s internal brand division, recorded an annualized GMV run rate of Rs 4,000 crore.
Why it matters: The results indicate a successful strategy in balancing traditional retail expansion with the rapid growth of quick-commerce models. For investors in emerging markets, Nykaa’s ability to scale high-margin beauty segments alongside logistics-heavy quick delivery offers a model for managing operational costs while maintaining revenue growth.
