The General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) and Oracle have reached an agreement to provide training in cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and database solutions for 150,000 Egyptians. The initiative aims to support the localization of modern technology and expand the digital economy in Egypt.
The Meeting
GAFI CEO Mohamed Awad met with Oracle Egypt Country Leader Waleed Ahmed and Head of Technology Tamer Gamal to discuss the partnership. During the session, officials reviewed Oracle’s current technology solutions and outlined plans for integrating these tools into the local market. The meeting included GAFI Deputy CEO Waleed Anwar, advisor Mohamed Youssef, and Heba El Gamal.
Strategic Alignment
Dr. Mohamed Farid Saleh, the Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, issued directives to prioritize digital transformation and attract investments that support the digital sector. GAFI officials stated that the collaboration with Oracle aligns with state investment strategies to foster local technological competencies. The authority committed to providing necessary facilities, coordinating with relevant agencies, and securing required permits to assist the implementation process.
The Training Initiative
Oracle intends to collaborate with public and private sector institutions to accelerate the adoption of cloud computing and AI. The company identified the development of local talent and digital skills as a core component of building a technological ecosystem. The training program is designed to equip entrepreneurs and authority employees with skills intended to support the growth of Egypt’s technology sector.
