Fintech firm Pine Labs has developed a commerce operating system centered on autonomous AI agents. The company aims to integrate these agents into banking and enterprise environments while maintaining strict accountability and security protocols. CTO Sanjeev Kumar stated the organization is positioning AI as a central component of its digital ecosystem.
Over the past 18 months
Pine Labs has constructed a commerce operating system designed to manage AI agent permissions and track performance. The company developed a framework called Grantex, which functions as an authorization system for AI. This tool assigns specific permissions, expiration dates, and human authorship records to each agent. The system features a tamper-proof, hash-chain audit trail to record actions. If an agent attempts an unauthorized task, the system blocks the action and revokes permissions.

During a product showcase, Kumar detailed the company’s efforts to integrate tools, retrieval-augmented generation, and continuous evaluations. He emphasized that these components must function cohesively before agents can operate reliably in enterprise settings. The company has already deployed this technology internally across its compliance, finance, HR, and marketing departments. It is now expanding implementation to banking partners in India and international markets.
Operational Deployment
The company introduced Cora, an AI agent designed to manage cyber fraud complaints. Cora handles the entire process from initial intake to resolution, including transaction matching and routing. According to Kumar, Cora has reduced complaint processing times to same-day resolution, down from the previous industry standard of three to five days. The agent provides a 15-step audit trace for every task. When system connectors fail, Cora utilizes robotic process automation to interface with external portals, such as government cyber police systems.
