Readers’ Circle Celebrates 20 Years with Citywide Events on October 3

The Circolo dei lettori e delle lettriche marks two decades of fostering literary love, unveiling a day‑long program that reaches every neighborhood.

Saturday, 3 October – Opening Ceremony

At the historic Biblioteca Civica, members gathered to hear founding director Maria Rossi recount the club’s humble beginnings in a modest loft. Her words reminded longtime supporters that the circle started with just a handful of passionate readers sharing homemade bookmarks.

Saturday, 3 October – Community Workshops

Following the ceremony, pop‑up workshops sprang up in parks, cafés and schools. Children crafted their own stories under the guidance of volunteer authors, while seniors joined a poetry‑reading circle at the senior center, discovering new voices and rekindling old friendships.

Saturday, 3 October – Evening Literary Walk

As dusk fell, participants embarked on a guided literary walk through the city’s historic quarter. Actors recited excerpts from beloved Italian novels at each stop, turning streets into living pages and inviting passersby to pause and listen.

Looking Ahead

With the 20th anniversary now behind them, the Circolo plans to expand its outreach, aiming to launch a digital platform that will connect readers across the region. The celebration on October 3 proved that a shared love of books can still unite a community, one story at a time.
