Egypt Offers Incentives and Partnerships to Speed Up Mining Projects

At a roundtable in the New Administrative Capital, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly listened as a young geologist described the excitement of turning a newly mapped vein into a working mine. The scene captured the government’s new promise: to move Egypt’s mining sector from discovery straight to production.

Incentives and Direct Partnerships

Madbouly announced that the state will provide tax breaks, streamlined licensing and even equity stakes in projects that demonstrate quick progress. He said these measures follow years of addressing structural hurdles and investing heavily in energy and infrastructure, creating a roadmap that now “looks promising.” The prime minister stressed that, under President Abdel Fattah Al‑Sisi’s direction, execution timelines must be cut dramatically.

Building a Regional Value Chain

Petroleum and Mineral Resources Minister Karim Badawi added that Egypt aims beyond raw extraction. By partnering with global firms, the country wants to add value along the production chain and position itself as a hub for processing minerals from across Africa. He highlighted recent talks with international companies and called for inter‑ministerial cooperation and private‑sector involvement.
