LGBTQIA+ Choir Komos Marks 18 Years with Four Seasonal Concerts in Bologna

For eighteen years, the LGBTQIA+ choir Komos has been a vibrant thread in Bologna’s cultural fabric. To honor its milestone, the ensemble has crafted a four‑part concert series that mirrors the shift of the year’s elements, offering audiences a musical journey from autumn’s arrival to winter’s hush.

4 October 2024 – Opening Night

The celebration began at a historic venue in the city centre, where the choir debuted the first set titled “Earth.” Members sang arrangements that blended classic choral harmonies with contemporary LGBTQIA+ anthems, underscoring the group’s roots and community spirit.

30 October 2024 – “Air” Concert

Two weeks later, Komos moved to a modern theater to present “Air,” a program that highlighted soaring vocal lines and breezy rhythms. The performance emphasized freedom and openness, themes resonant with the choir’s inclusive mission.

15 November 2024 – “Fire” Concert

The third concert, “Fire,” brought a more intense repertoire, featuring powerful songs about resilience and transformation. Audience members reported feeling the heat of emotion as the singers conveyed personal and collective stories of triumph.

20 December 2024 – Closing “Water” Concert

The series concluded with “Water,” a reflective evening that blended gentle lullabies with hopeful new works. The finale symbolized renewal, inviting listeners to carry the choir’s message of love and acceptance into the new year.
