Neobanks Eye New EU Investment Account as Spain Prepares Legislation

Spain’s fintech scene is buzzing. The government may soon pass a progressive decree—dubbed the Maricarmen decree—that would introduce a new “Financia Europa” investment account, the boldest savings push in 15 years.

  1. Lawmakers are reviewing the decree, and many expect it could be approved by Congress today.
  2. Neobanks and investment firms such as InbestMe, MyInvestor, Trade Republic and N26 have begun dissecting the text, looking for ways to shape products around the new account.
  3. If the parliament signs off, these firms plan to roll out commercial proposals that match the account’s rules, aiming to attract savers eager for modern investment options.

All eyes remain on the final vote, which will determine whether the Financia Europa account becomes a reality.
