A Classic Tale Returns
John Steinbeck’s legendary story East of Eden is getting a fresh start on Netflix. It’s an exciting project because the person bringing it to life has a very special connection to the material.
- The new limited series is being written and produced by Zoe Kazan.
- Kazan actually happens to be the granddaughter of Elia Kazan, who famously directed the original 1955 film adaptation starring James Dean.
- This new version aims to bring Steinbeck’s epic, multi-generational saga to a whole new audience.
- While the 1955 film focused on the later part of the book, this series will dive deeper into the full scope of the novel.
It will be fascinating to see how Kazan puts her own modern stamp on such a cherished family legacy.
