Egypt is strengthening its economic footprint across Africa, with trade between the country and its NEPAD partners reaching $1.1 billion in the first seven months of 2026. Data from the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) shows this is a solid jump from the $1 billion recorded during the same period last year. Algeria led the pack as the top destination for Egyptian goods like electrical machinery and plastics, while South Africa emerged as the primary exporter to Egypt, largely supplying fuels and vehicles.
Beyond trade, the financial relationship is deepening. Investments in both directions have surged, and remittances from Egyptians working in these nations also climbed, highlighting growing regional collaboration.
