Senegal and Egypt Strengthen Ties During African Union Meeting

Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye recently met with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi in New Alamein. The two leaders discussed shared goals and how their nations can support each other’s futures.

  1. President Faye voiced his support for Egypt’s stance on the Nile, advocating for dialogue and cooperation to manage water resources safely.
  2. He suggested using the Senegal River Development Organization as a model for how countries can work together on water security.
  3. President Al-Sisi offered to share Egypt’s expertise in agriculture, energy, and infrastructure to help with Senegal’s 2050 development vision.
  4. Both leaders agreed on the importance of finding peaceful solutions to regional conflicts while protecting national sovereignty.
