Former Pro Ramón Vega Challenges Gianni Infantino for FIFA Presidency

Swiss football legend Ramón Vega is making another bold move to shake up the leadership at FIFA. The 55-year-old former defender, who played for clubs like Tottenham and Celtic, officially launched his campaign this Wednesday to challenge current president Gianni Infantino.

  1. Vega announced his intention to run in the upcoming FIFA congress held in Rabat on March 18.
  2. He previously attempted to launch bids in 2015, 2019, and 2022, though he struggled to secure enough support to officially qualify.
  3. To make this attempt count, Vega must collect written endorsements from at least five national football associations by November 18.

It is a tough road ahead, but Vega is clearly determined to see if he can finally get his name on the ballot.
