NVIDIA Partners with ITIDA to Expand Egypt’s AI Startup Ecosystem

NVIDIA hosted a reception in Cairo this week to discuss the expansion of Egypt’s artificial intelligence sector, gathering investors, developers, and startup representatives. The event, held in partnership with RiseUp, highlighted the growing presence of local firms in the company’s global Inception program.

Strategic Collaboration

NVIDIA announced a forthcoming partnership with the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA). The collaboration aims to support local technology talent and assist startups in developing AI applications, including large language models and speech-processing tools.

Paolo Guglielmini, NVIDIA’s Vice President for EMEA, stated that Egypt possesses significant potential due to its large engineering workforce, with approximately 40,000 STEM graduates entering the market annually. Guglielmini identified six essential components for a sustainable AI economy: talent, energy, infrastructure, chips, models, and applications.

Local Innovation

ITIDA CEO Ahmed El-Zaher noted that Egyptian companies have successfully developed AI solutions despite limited access to high-performance computing. Local startups showcased at the event included AvidBeam, which focuses on video analytics, and Proteinea, which works on biological AI for healthcare. CyberFuse and Marses Robotics also presented AI-enabled cybersecurity and autonomous systems. ITIDA officials indicated that the agency intends to work with NVIDIA to further scale these local capabilities.
