Egypt’s Ministry of Industry and the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology have launched a new initiative to secure the nation’s industrial infrastructure. Officials witnessed the signing of a cooperation protocol between the Industrial Modernisation Centre (IMC) and Middle East Communication Systems (MCS) to bolster digital defenses.
Protecting Industrial Control Systems
The agreement focuses on safeguarding operational technology and industrial control systems from digital threats. Ayman Elbayaa, Assistant Minister of Industry for Digital Transformation, stated that cybersecurity must be integrated into modern manufacturing as factories transition to smart technologies. He noted that protecting these systems is essential to maintaining production continuity and supply chain stability.
Building Digital Capabilities
The partnership aims to train industrial workers to manage digital risks effectively. Tarek Shabka, chairperson of MCS, said the company will provide specialized expertise to help facilities meet digital transformation standards. The initiative is part of a broader effort by the IMC to support Industry 4.0 applications. By securing digital infrastructure, officials expect to increase investor confidence in Egyptian-made products and improve the overall competitiveness of the industrial sector.
