Egypt’s Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Mohamed Farid, has ordered increased coordination between government entities and domestic manufacturers to bolster investment and export volumes. The directive follows a field inspection of the Pure Life factory in Damietta as part of the “Egypt Launches with Exports” initiative.
The Facts
Pure Life, established in 2014, specializes in manufacturing microfilters, desalination plant components, and wastewater treatment systems. According to company chairperson Mohamed El-Sheikh, the facility operates with $9.7 million in investment costs and includes 20% foreign participation. The company exports 80% of its annual production. Export figures have risen from $698,200 in 2022 to approximately $3.17 million in 2025.
The Analysis
The government initiative aims to identify barriers to production and support corporate expansion plans. By facilitating direct communication between the ministry and private firms, officials seek to increase the use of local components in manufacturing. This strategy attempts to reduce reliance on imports while simultaneously strengthening the competitiveness of Egyptian goods in international markets.
The Outlook
The ministry plans to continue field tours to monitor production activities across various governorates. Future efforts will focus on assessing the capacity of manufacturers to scale operations and meet export targets.
