Europe Boosts Strategic Raw Materials with New Spanish Projects

Europe is taking big steps to cut down its reliance on foreign sources for the essential materials needed to build electric cars, smartphones, and solar panels.

  • The European Commission just added 46 new strategic projects across 16 countries to boost local mining, processing, and recycling.
  • Spain secured two of these new spots, bringing its total contribution to nine projects since 2025.
  • This initiative is part of a larger plan to strengthen the EU’s supply chain and balance trade relationships.

By focusing on home-grown production, the EU hopes to secure a more stable future for its tech and green energy industries.
