Egypt and South Korea Forge New Strategic Partnership

A Big Step Forward for Egypt and South Korea

Egypt and South Korea are getting much closer. During a state visit to Seoul, President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and President Lee Jae-myung officially upgraded their nations’ relationship to a strategic partnership, aiming to boost economic and technological cooperation.

  1. Summit Talks: The leaders met to discuss strengthening ties and officially launched talks for a new trade deal known as a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement.
  2. New Agreements: They signed 12 different memorandums of understanding to collaborate across various industries.
  3. Industrial Goals: Sisi encouraged Korean companies to build an industrial zone near the Suez Canal to help reach African and European markets.
