Egypt and ICARDA Partner to Boost Sustainable Farming

Egypt is teaming up with the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA) to tackle water shortages and boost farming efficiency. By focusing on smart, modern solutions, they hope to secure a more sustainable future for local agriculture through 2027.

  1. The two groups are rolling out a joint work plan that turns previous agreements into real-world projects.
  2. They are testing a new desalination unit at the Wadi El Natrun research station to help tackle water scarcity.
  3. New farmer field schools are opening in Qena and Kafr El-Sheikh to teach better soil and water management.
  4. They are launching solar-powered irrigation and digital tools to help farmers produce more with less water.
