IMF Raises Spain’s 2026 Growth Forecast to 2.5 Percent

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has increased its economic growth projection for Spain for 2026, positioning the nation to lead growth among major developed economies. The organization now forecasts a 2.5 percent expansion, an upward revision of 0.4 percentage points from its previous estimate.

The IMF noted that developed economies are continuing to outperform expectations despite persistent challenges, including inflation and high levels of public debt. While the IMF’s new projection remains 0.1 percentage points lower than the forecasts provided by the Spanish government and independent economic analysts, the revision follows a trend of the organization raising its outlook for the country. The IMF has frequently underestimated the performance of the Spanish economy in recent assessments.
