BYD Targets Toyota for Global Sales Lead by 2030

Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD aims to surpass Toyota in total global vehicle sales by 2030. Company founder Wang Chuanfu outlined this goal to shareholders during a meeting in June. Achieving this target requires the automaker to exceed the sales volume of Toyota, which reported 11 million vehicles sold in 2025.

BYD has modeled its growth strategy on the early development trajectory of the Japanese automotive giant. Analysts note that while the company has successfully mirrored Toyota’s initial expansion phases, replicating the firm’s long-term dominance presents significant challenges. The manufacturer, whose name stands for “Build Your Dreams,” faces increasing competition as it attempts to scale production to match established global leaders. #BYD #Toyota #Automotive #BusinessNews
