Peninsula Capital Exits Stake in Generic Ozempic Maker Galenicum

Peninsula Capital, the private equity firm founded by former Endesa chairman Borja Prado, has restructured its 20% stake in the pharmaceutical company Galenicum. The move involves a continuation fund designed to allow initial investors to cash out or maintain their holdings. The transaction marks a significant return for the firm, which originally invested approximately 38 million euros in the Barcelona-based manufacturer five years ago.

The deal values the initial investment at four times its original worth, representing a 300% gain for early participants who chose to sell. Galenicum is known for producing the generic version of the diabetes medication Ozempic. The restructuring provides liquidity for investors seeking an exit while allowing others to remain as shareholders in the company. #Finance #PrivateEquity #Pharma #BusinessNews
