Restoration of 14 17th-Century Dutch Maps Completed at Palazzo Spinola in Genoa

Palazzo Spinola in Genoa has finished restoring fourteen Dutch maps dating from the 1600s. The conservation work was funded through a collaboration between the cultural foundation Mic, the civic group Friends of Genoa, and Italy’s Art Bonus tax incentive scheme. Specialists cleaned and stabilized the vellum sheets, preserving their cartographic details and historic pigments. The restored maps will be displayed in the palace’s exhibition space, offering visitors insight into early modern European geography. The project highlights the role of public‑private partnerships in safeguarding heritage assets. #CulturalHeritage #ArtRestoration #Genoa #DutchMaps #ArtBonus
