Egypt and Djibouti have signed a trade protocol to expand market access and strengthen economic cooperation between the two nations. The agreement was finalized on Wednesday at the Egyptian Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade in the New Administrative Capital by Egyptian Minister Mohamed Farid Saleh and Djibouti’s Minister of Trade and Tourism, Orbis Hiilaf Orbis.
Under the framework, Egypt plans to supply the Djiboutian market with goods ranging from pharmaceuticals and fertilizers to electronics and agricultural products. Minister Farid emphasized the importance of utilizing trade blocs like COMESA and the African Continental Free Trade Area. Minister Orbis noted that Djibouti’s strategic location near the Red Sea provides a gateway for Egyptian investments into the Horn of Africa. Both countries committed to reducing trade barriers to support long-term economic partnerships.
