Spanish Corporate Unions Reject Upcoming General Housing Strike

Spain’s corporate and professional unions have declined to support the upcoming general strike focused on housing issues. Scheduled for November 11 under the slogan “Wages, housing, prices,” the strike faces opposition from groups that prioritize specific sector interests over broader labor movements.

The two largest unions in Spain, CC OO and UGT, command a combined total of 228,000 delegates across thousands of companies, representing two-thirds of the country’s total union presence. While these organizations aim to represent the entire working class, corporate unions focus exclusively on specific professional categories or sectors. These specialized groups argue that the proposed strike does not align with their narrow mandates, highlighting a division within the broader Spanish labor landscape regarding the scope of industrial action. #Spain #LaborNews #HousingCrisis #CCOO #UGT
