Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al‑Sisi said on Tuesday that Egypt will not tolerate any threat to Saudi Arabia’s borders or to security in the Red Sea, warning that shifting regional geopolitics could have serious consequences.
Speaking to senior officials and journalists after the Police Academy’s 2026 graduation ceremony in New Cairo, al‑Sisi called Egypt and Saudi Arabia the “heart of the Arab and Islamic worlds” and said harm to one would affect the other. He also highlighted risks on Egypt’s southern and western frontiers and stressed that stability in Sudan, Libya and Gaza is essential to Arab security.
The president reiterated that he has told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu since 2014 that a Palestinian state would benefit all parties and promote lasting peace. Domestically, al‑Sisi warned of ongoing attempts to discredit the armed forces and police, describing them as the two wings of Egypt’s security apparatus.
