Claudio Paglieri Reimagines Manzoni’s Promessi Sposi

Author Claudio Paglieri has released a new literary work titled “Promesse Spose,” a reimagining of Alessandro Manzoni’s classic Italian novel, The Betrothed. The project serves as a creative rewrite of the original narrative, exploring alternate motivations for the story’s central characters.

In this version, Paglieri shifts the perspective of the character Lucia. Rather than the passive figure depicted in the 19th-century text, this interpretation presents a feminist take on the protagonist. The narrative explores a hypothetical scenario where Lucia pursues a relationship with the antagonist, Don Rodrigo. The work examines how these altered character dynamics change the trajectory of the famous plot. This publication adds to the long history of adaptations surrounding Manzoni’s seminal work. #Literature #ClaudioPaglieri #TheBetrothed #Books #ItalianLiterature
