BMW has commenced production of its sixth-generation battery cells at its facility in Shenyang, China, to support the upcoming Neue Klasse electric vehicle lineup.
- The Shenyang plant is the third site within the BMW global network dedicated to Gen6 battery manufacturing.
- These batteries are engineered specifically for the Neue Klasse platform, which serves as the foundation for the company’s next generation of electric vehicles.
- The expansion supports the automaker’s strategy to localize production for its primary markets.
The company confirmed the Shenyang location will play a central role in supplying the regional market as the rollout of the new platform continues.
