Banking Sector Performance
The Central Bank of Egypt stated the national banking sector maintains significant financial resilience despite global economic instability and geopolitical tensions. Regulatory oversight and prudential measures have strengthened the sector’s ability to absorb shocks, according to the bank’s latest Financial Stability Report.
- Total banking assets reached EGP 26.9 trillion by March 2026.
- Deposits grew to EGP 14.9 trillion, with household deposits comprising nearly 60% of funding.
- Non-performing loan ratios decreased to 1.9% by March 2026.
- Market risks remained low, representing less than 2% of risk-weighted assets.
The Central Bank of Egypt attributed this performance to robust risk management frameworks and consistent depositor confidence, enabling continued support for domestic economic financing. #Egypt #Banking #Finance #Economy @CBE_Egypt
