Egypt Launches Investor Facilitation Unit to Aid Japanese Companies’ Work Permits

Egypt’s Ministry of Labor said on Sunday it will speed up foreign work permit reviews after Japanese firms raised procedural concerns in a meeting with Minister Hassan Radad and Ambassador Fumio Iwai.

The discussion, held at the ministry headquarters in the New Administrative Capital, focused on labour, investment and vocational training cooperation. Radad said the newly created Investor Facilitation Unit will streamline regulatory steps, improve communication with investors and help businesses apply labour law provisions.

He pledged to study the challenges raised, coordinate with relevant authorities and organise seminars on Labour Law No. 14 of 2025 to clarify rights and duties. The minister also praised Japanese firms for vocational training efforts and offered to develop joint training programmes to build a skilled Egyptian workforce.
