Streaming Services Drive Growth in Italian Audiovisual Sector

The Italian audiovisual sector is reporting significant growth, driven primarily by a surge in streaming platforms. According to recent data, the streaming market now accounts for 24% of the industry’s total revenue, marking a notable shift in consumer viewing habits. While traditional broadcast television maintains a dominant share, generating 8.5 billion euros, or 61% of the market, digital consumption continues to expand rapidly.

This shift in media consumption is also influencing local economies. Industry reports indicate an increase in tourism to locations featured in popular television series and films. This trend suggests that narrative content is effectively serving as a promotional tool for regional travel, bridging the gap between digital entertainment and physical tourism. Analysts note that while linear television remains a stable economic pillar, the diversification into streaming and location-based tourism is reshaping the sector’s long-term financial landscape.
