Egypt’s Ministry of Social Solidarity approved 1,828 foreign grants totaling EGP 13 billion for the 2025/2026 fiscal year. These funds, provided by 610 donor entities, will support 515 non-governmental associations and foundations. The ministry stated that the grants were vetted to ensure they align with national development priorities and legal requirements.
Amr Hosny, head of the Central Unit for Associations and Civil Work, reported that the funding was processed under the Law Regulating the Exercise of Civil Society Work. The regulatory process focuses on transparency and governance. Additionally, the ministry reported 481 active fundraising licenses, with digital channels accounting for 88% of all collection methods. Egypt currently hosts 35,779 registered civil society organizations.
