Spain Tourism Employment Hits Record High for Five Consecutive Months

Spain’s tourism sector recorded over three million social security contributors between May and September, marking the first time employment figures have remained above that threshold for five consecutive months. Data released Tuesday by Turespaña indicates that employment in the industry grew by 4.5% in September compared to the same period last year.

The figures encompass workers in hotels, food and beverage services, travel agencies, and tour operators. Officials attribute this sustained growth in hiring to a record-breaking influx of foreign travelers. Projections for the current year estimate that the country will receive more than 100 million international visitors. This surge in tourism activity has directly fueled the expansion of the labor market throughout the summer season.
