The Palazzetto Bru Zane has released a new book-and-CD set featuring Léo Delibes’ opera Jean de Nivelle. This project marks the first complete world premiere recording of the work, which had largely faded from the repertoire. The release aims to restore the reputation of the French composer’s lesser-known compositions.
The opera, originally premiered in 1880, blends historical drama with lyrical elements characteristic of the period. By pairing the recording with a comprehensive book, the publisher provides historical context for the production. This release offers musicologists and opera enthusiasts the opportunity to re-examine a title that has been absent from modern stages for decades.
