Volkswagen AG announced a global recall of more than 70,000 electric cars because of defective battery units.
- On Monday, the automaker issued a safety notice covering all affected models sold since 2021.
- The recall targets roughly 10,000 vehicles registered in Germany, according to the German Federal Motor Transport Authority.
- Owners will be instructed to bring their cars to authorized service centers for battery replacement at no cost.
- Volkswagen said the defect could lead to reduced driving range and, in rare cases, a fire risk.
- The company plans to complete the remediation by the end of the fourth quarter.
Volkswagen will monitor the situation and work with regulators to ensure compliance. #Volkswagen #EV #Recall @Volkswagen
