Egypt’s Planning Minister Reviews Asset Utilization for National Investment Bank

Egypt’s Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Ahmed Rostom, chaired a meeting of the National Investment Bank (NIB) Assets Committee to evaluate new strategies for managing transferred properties. The bank aims to leverage these assets to improve its financial standing and support national economic development plans through private sector partnerships.

Rostom stated that the bank recently finalized historic financial settlements, some originating in the 1980s, under the guidance of Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly. These agreements, valued at approximately EGP 400 billion, resolved long-standing entanglements with entities including the New Urban Communities Authority. The resulting asset transfers are central to the bank’s broader restructuring efforts, designed to clear administrative obstacles and restore its investment capacity.
