Egypt Sees Trade Boost with African Union Partners

Egypt’s economic ties with fellow African Union nations are growing stronger. New data from the Central Agency for Public Mobilisation and Statistics shows a positive trend in regional cooperation.

  1. Trade exchange jumped by 11.8% in the first seven months of 2026, reaching $6.1 billion total.
  2. Egyptian exports grew to $4.5 billion, with Libya standing out as the top destination for goods like electrical machinery and plastics.
  3. Imports from African partners also surged, rising 45.5% to $1.6 billion, largely driven by copper and fuel imports from the DRC and Sudan.
  4. Investment flows remain active, with Egyptian businesses investing $756 million in AU countries during the last financial year.
