Egypt Upgrades Sinai’s Power Grid with Massive Investment

Egypt has funneled EGP 57 billion into a major overhaul of the Sinai Peninsula’s electricity grid to boost regional growth.

  • Boosting infrastructure: The state built 29 new transformer substations, with another on the way, to support local cities, tourism, and industry.
  • Expanding reach: Crews installed over 4,000 km of new cables and thousands of utility poles to serve 280,000 subscribers across 96 different areas.
  • Modern tech: The plan includes smart upgrades like a new automated control center in Sharm El Sheikh to fix outages faster and an electric vehicle charging station.

This massive investment ensures Sinai has the stable, reliable energy needed to power its future agricultural, industrial, and residential projects.
