Egypt and Djibouti have signed a memorandum of understanding to increase bilateral cooperation in the tourism sector. The agreement was finalized in Cairo by Egypt’s Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Sherif Fathy, and Djibouti’s Minister of Trade and Tourism, Orbis Hiilaf Orbis. The deal focuses on joint marketing efforts, hospitality training, and investment in tourism activities, according to the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities.
Both nations will appoint liaison officers to manage the implementation of the agreement, with a focus on hotel management expertise. Discussions also covered museum management, archaeological restoration, and site services. Officials reviewed a proposal to twin the Egyptian resort city of Sharm El-Sheikh with Djibouti City to further tourism development.
