Egypt’s Ministry of Transport has signed a memorandum of understanding with China’s Xiamen C&D to develop a dry bulk terminal at Al Max Port in Alexandria. The agreement, signed by the Alexandria Port Authority and the Chinese firm, marks the first of four planned terminals at the site, according to ministry officials.
Transport Minister Kamel Al-Wazir stated the project includes constructing two berths for large cargo vessels, storage yards, and silos. The development aims to streamline the movement of non-clean dry bulk goods, such as steel and cement. The plan also integrates the port with the national railway network to improve logistics.
The ministry said the project supports Egypt’s goal to become a regional trade hub. Officials anticipate the terminal will lower supply chain costs and create jobs. #Egypt #Logistics #Shipping #ChinaEgyptRelations
