Google Cloud is expanding its Gemini voice AI capabilities to handle complex business tasks, moving beyond simple question-and-answer interactions. Naren Kachroo, Head of AI Go-to-Market at Google Cloud, demonstrated these new features at TechSparks 2026, showcasing how AI agents can manage customer service, restaurant reservations, and sales negotiations.
Transitioning to Agentic AI
Kachroo stated that Google Cloud aims to shift voice AI from a passive conversational tool to an agentic experience where the software completes specific tasks. During the presentation, Kachroo displayed an AI assistant booking a restaurant table for eight. The AI managed the reservation, addressed inquiries about dietary restrictions, identified menu items from images, and seamlessly switched between English and Spanish.
The company also introduced Gemini Live voice capabilities, which include new models for speech-to-text, text-to-speech, and translation. Additionally, Google Cloud showcased Live Avatar, a feature that integrates voice interaction with a visual AI presence.
Automating Sales and Customer Engagement
The demonstration included a scenario involving a fictional safety equipment business seeking to sell inventory. Kachroo showed an AI voice agent searching for leads, contacting a construction company, and negotiating a price in Hindi. The agent successfully adhered to the owner’s pricing constraints while addressing the buyer’s objections.
Kachroo emphasized that the agent maintained context throughout the process, moving from internal business data to external customer communication. He noted that this technology allows small business owners to delegate sales processes without manual intervention at every stage.
