When Rotoris released its debut collection of 2,100 numbered timepieces in February 2026, the entire inventory sold out within days. The Gurugram-based independent watchmaker is now scaling its operations after closing a 70 crore rupee, or approximately $8.5 million, Series A funding round.
Expanding Production and Global Reach
Blume Ventures led the investment, with participation from 9Unicorns and Centricity. Several individual investors also contributed, including Diwakar Goel, global head of data at BlackRock; former Coca-Cola Asia-Pacific president Atul Singh; Adhiraj Burman of the Dabur family; and television personality Rannvijay Singha. Rotoris intends to allocate the capital toward research and development, increased production capacity, and the expansion of its Rotoris House locations in India and abroad.
The company produces limited-run analogue watches in collections labeled as chapters. Its Manifesta line utilizes natural-stone dials such as lapis lazuli and imperial jade, while the Astonia chronograph features materials like titanium and carbon. According to co-founder Prerna Gupta, these timepieces rely on Swiss or Japanese movements, with final assembly and testing conducted by hand at the firm’s Gurugram atelier.
Market Demand and Strategic Ambitions
Rotoris reports that nearly 100,000 individuals have registered for access to its products. The company stated that 40% of its demand originates outside India, specifically in the United States, Dubai, and Australia. Co-founder Aakash Anand stated that the brand plans to open a Rotoris House in New York to serve its international customer base. Karthik Reddy, co-founder and managing partner of Blume Ventures, noted the firm is supporting the brand’s vision to compete alongside established global icons.
The broader Indian market shows a shift in consumer behavior, with luxury and high-end watches accounting for 70% of sales in fiscal year 2025, compared to 48% in fiscal year 2020. Younger buyers are increasingly seeking mechanical watches and limited-edition designs.
