Social Gaming Platform Matiks Secures $10 Million in Funding

Bengaluru-based social gaming platform Matiks has raised $10 million in a pre-Series A funding round. The investment was led by General Catalyst, with participation from entrepreneur Ronnie Screwvala and existing investors Info Edge Ventures, Tanglin Venture Partners, and Untitled Ventures.

2024

Matiks was founded with a focus on developing games centered on mathematics, memory, logic, and puzzles. The platform integrates competitive gameplay with social features to encourage user interaction.

June 2026

The company reported a significant increase in user engagement. Daily active users have more than doubled since this period, surpassing 300,000. Early user adoption has been noted in markets including Japan, the United States, and South Korea.

September 2026

Platform metrics showed 2.2 million users played 48 million games during the month. Data provided by the company indicates that users who maintain a seven-day engagement streak show a 62% retention rate one month later. Additionally, some early user cohorts have demonstrated a 32% retention rate at week 52.

Current Status and Future Expansion

Matiks plans to utilize the new capital to scale its international operations, with an initial focus on the United States market. The company intends to invest in engineering, artificial intelligence, product design, and game development. A primary objective is the launch of an AI-powered platform that will allow users to create and publish games without traditional coding requirements. Rahul Humayan, a partner at General Catalyst, stated the platform is addressing a market demand for alternatives to conventional digital content by providing social spaces for brain games.

Why it matters: As the digital economy pivots toward AI-driven content creation, Matiks’ model highlights a growing interest in cognitive-based gaming over passive entertainment. This shift reflects a broader global trend where platforms seek to monetize user engagement through community-building and skill-based activities rather than traditional media consumption.
